LITERARY AND DEBATING SOCIETY.
The Literary and Debating Society ill connection with the Durham Street Methodist Church held its annual meeting last evening, when tjfcre was a good attendance, and the. Allowing officers were elected: President*. the Rev. Percy Knight; - vice-presidents, Sister Winnifred and Mr B. Hampton; secretary and treasurer, Mr Fred. Ambler; committee, Mrs C. W. Barrell, the Misses M. Jenniiigs, Greaves, and Ilobbs, Messrs Fisher and C. W. Barrel!; representative Young People's! Committee, Mr Pred. Ambler; reporter,! Mr Pred.' Ambler; delegates to Y.M.C.A., Messrs Fisher and Ampler. A small credit balance on the last year 's working was reported. The rules of the society were revised and the opening meeting fixed for Tuesday, June 2. Several new members were elected. The business being transacted, the meeting adjourned, and a short time was spent in a social gathering and the partaking of supper. Miss M. Keppell sang several songs, and prizes for . two competitions held during the evening went to Miss Bessie Hill and Miss Olive Jennings.
