ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL.
WET GROUNDS AND DULL PLAY. The weather to-day spoiled any chance of good football, and in fact two of the senior games were postponed, owing mainly to the non-appear-ance of the referees. The grounds being quite playable, there was no reasonable excuse for the officials not putting in an appearance, and . still less, for players. The only senior game which took place was at St. Albans, Mr Ritson officiating.
WE ARE SEVEN. A SPOILT GAME. Nomads 2. Bangers 1.
The ground was sodden, although in good playing condition, and a fierce biting wind blew across the turf when Nomads, four men short, lined up against the babies of the competition; Eangers had the elements in their favour in the first half, but cojild dd nothing against the one back game adopted by the blues. Their shooting and ignorance of meeting this type of game was deplorable, with the result that when the Nomads' nippy forwards got going there was trouble in the wind for the blue and blacks. Taylor opened the scoring for the winners with a header from the right. From that on the blues were kept defending, with the Eangers unable to individualise sufficiently to penetrate. Clay was equal to three men, and to this player Nomads owed their lead of the only goal scored by half-time. SECOND SPELL. On resuming, the Bangers played a more business-like game, and looked like getting over their difficulties. Tait received the ball more often, and repeatedly had hard luck in not drawing the game on level terms. Receiving a pass from Tait, Waterland breasted through the defence and beat May with a good shot. The game was constantly .being stopped for off-side, and what might have been the best game thus far in the season was spoiled. Shurrock was not as safe as usual, and a like remark applies to Drummond. Hyslop is of more value on the wing. The Nomads played their usual clever forward game, all the seven rising to the occasion brilliantly. Rangers, without Norman, were akin to a boat without a rudder. Hpwie added the winning goal with* fifteen minutes to go. Hard luck was experienced at the last by the losers; do what they could they couldn't find the desired spot. The final whistle arrived with no further scoring, and all concerned thankful to don dry clothes.

St. Matthew's was won by St. Bede's with a score of 7 to nil. The scorers for the winners were 11. Wolfe (li), (J. Mullin (1),. B. Kingan (1), F. Khouri (1), and C. Dwycr (1). Referee: Mr Burgess.
