KILLED INSTANTLY.
RAILWAY FATALITY. Press Association. DUxNEDIN, May 16. Two engines collided in the railway yards last night at about 11 o'clock. One travelling backwards was. going to the shed, and the other, moving ahead, was proceeding to the platform. The tender of the first engine hit the corner of the second..engine, which was a small one, crushing the tender in against the firebox and boiler, and terribly mutilating the fireman, David Donovan, who must have been killed instantly.
The driver escaped injury. It is not clear how the accident happened, as both engines carried lights. Donovan was a married man, with one young child.
