FIRE BOARD.
A meeting of the Christ-church Fire Board-was--held last evening, and was attended by Messrs A. L. Parsons (chairman), H. , Holland, C. A. Williams, 11. E. Rusbridge, W. B. M'Ken•zie, and .1. F. Grierson.
The report of the board in commit; tee recommended that the Government Life Insurance Department be informed that if firemen insured in that office the board was prepared to make the neees-. sary deductions from the men's pay if requested;, that Foreman Davis/s resignation be accepted with regret, and that the sum of £lO/be voted him in appreciation of his. past services; that Messrs Balliuger's tender for the supply of 20 branches'ami 24 nozzles for the sum of £27 12/-, delivered in Christchurch, be accepted; that the town clerk be written to asking if u conference could be arranged between tlie By-laws Committee and the board, ' in order to discuss matters in which th'e powers of the superintendent of the board, as inspector under the Act, and those of the City Council's inspector conflict. The report was adopted. The statement of receipts showed a credit balance of £B2O 5/11. Accounts amounting to £771 19/2' were passed for' ■payment.- .'.'...' *
