TO ABOLISH TIPS.
MEASURE IN AMERICA. WAITERS SAID TO FAVOUR IT. By Cable.Press Association.—Copyright. . OTTAWA, May 13. The Senate considered Senator Davis's Bill to abolish tipping. Senator Davis declared that waiters and waitresses throughout the country favoured the Bill. Senator Choquette declared that the Bill was unworkable. Senator Boyer questioned whether Parliament would add to its dignity if it considered such a measure. It would be impossible, he said, to enforce such a law. The Bill passed its second reading stage with a proviso omitting servants in private houses from its operation.
