"MOTHERS' DAY."
Yesterday "Mothers' Day" was celebrated at the Y.M.C.A. with a special service, which was attended by about 50 members. It also included a farewell to two of the members, Messrs S. V. Parsonson and W. A. Hislop, who are leaving to take up their duties as secretary and assistant-secretary, respectively, of the association's branches in Masterton and Dunedin. Mr W.. Goss (president) presided over the meeting, and gave a sermon on '' Mothers' Day.'' He also referred to the approaching departure of Messrs Parsonson' and Hislop, who were leaving good ap : pointments to follow the work of the association, and which he trusted they would discharge well and faithfully. Messrs A. W. Jamieson, T. C. Field, R. iPlimsoll, and T. S. Tankard spoke in [similar terms, arid Messrs Parsonsos iand Hislop, in their replies, spoke of the years during which they had been connected with the association as the happiest of their lives, and said they would do their best, trusting in Gqd, to overcome the difficulties' and trials which they knew were before them. Mr Fred Glover sang "Nearer, My Gedj to Thee,'' and the Rev. H. Perkins cloved the naeetiag with the Benediction, tea being afterwards served in the soeial hall.
