Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., have received the following cable message from their London office: — Tallow. —Since our last wire prices for good descriptions are 3d per cwt lower, and for medium and inferior descriptions 6d per cwt lower. Scaree4^2y anything doing in c.i.f. terms. Rabbit Skins. —3600 bales are being offered at sales which start to-day. Prices are 2d per lb lower..
The following is the copy of a cable received by Dalgety and Co., Limited, from their London office, dated May 6, 3.914•- —"Wool sales continue active, competition is brisk and buying is general from al> quarters. Prices are well maintained for, good merinos and fine crossbreds. Prices are irregular for Sieavy, earthy and wasty merino wools. are scarcely maintained for phabby coarse crossbred wools. For other descriptions, prices are very firm at last quotations.
TO-DAY'S MARKETS. , The following were the ruling prices in to-day's markets: —Apples, dessert, £d to 3d per lb; apples, cooking, lid to 2d per lb; peaches, 2fd to 3id per Jb; oranges, 5/- to 5/6 per case; pears, '4/- to 6/6 per case; tomatoes, 2d to 3d sb; cucumbers, lb; potatoes, 8/jgack; cabbages, 1/6 to 2/- dozen; cauliflowers, 4/- to 6/6 dozen; carrots, 7d dozen; turnips, 6d dozen; parsnips, ,8d dozen;, onions, strings, 5/- cwt; grapes, lOd to 1/4 lb; mushrooms, lOd to 1/-. Steady supplies of local fruit have been coming forward; the market has also Ijeen well supplied with Island oranges.
