A troop of 60 boy scouts who marched to Labourge, outside the fortifications were greeted by a gang of Apaches with hopts and jeers. On returning, the Apaches, who were lying in wait, met the scouts with a volley of stones. The scouts deployed, and a tenminutes' battle ensued, the Apaches being beaten off, the scouts' staves being broken on the heads of the enemy. The police state that twelve Apaches had to be assisted from the field. The Apaches pursued the scouts and kept up a desultory fire with revolvers. A scout was wounded by a bullet in his thigh.
