TENNIS.
NEW BRIGHTON CLUB.
A special general meeting of the New Brighton Lawn Tennis Club was held last evening. « Mr Gr. Jackson (vice-president) occupied tlxo chair, and there was a large attendance of members. A lengthy discussion took place on the question of laying down an additional coiirt. Mr R. Browning moved and Mr Lockwood seconded: —"That a special committee comprising Messrs Bishop, Butler, Browning, Irwin, Lockwood, Spratt, and Skellerup be set up to consider the question of laying down an additional court on the ground at present occupied by the club, and to consider also the matter of increased accommodation in the pavilion, water supply, and other conveniences, and report to a future meeting." Mr G. Skjellerup moved as an amendment —"That this meeting approves of a fourth court being laid down at a cost not exceeding JE65." The amendment was declared lost, and the motion was put to the meeting and carried. An informal discussion took place regarding the advisability of entering teams for the inter-club competitions, but no action was taken, and the meeting adjourned.
