CONCERT AT OPAWA.

', The Opawa Bowling Club lately added £ croquet section and laid down a green for followers of the gentle game. In order to assist the financial liability which this involved, it was decided to hold a concert, and the club had the enthusiastic support of a number of ladies who were interested in the improvement. The concert was held last evening in St. Mark's Schoolroom, and it was one of the most successful and delightful events of its kind. An orchestra of ten performers attended, and played the overtures to the different sections of the programme. Then a delightful dance, "Moonmoths and Butterflies," was given by little pupils of Misses Smith and Dawe, who had been specially trained for this occasion by Miss Clarke. An illustrated song, '' The Blue Dragoons,'' by a bevy of young girls, in blue dragoon costume, was given, and' was voted a lively success. "Pansy Faces," another illustrated song, was capitally given by.a number of young ladies. "-Cherry Blossom Time in Ja,pan" gave another opportunity for decorative vocalism, the leading parts'being taken by Miss" Tisdall and Mr Booth. A tableau, "The Doctor,'' was nicely staged, and 'a "Waxworks Show," in which the "figures" were responsible for some uproariously funny business, was hugely enjoyed. One figure, as '' Maude Allen," danced an Irish jig, and a Suffragette furiously attacked a picture masterpiece with an axe. "Everybody Works but Father" was also an amusingly illustrated 'contribution. Songs were given by Messrs Rex Hobbs,George March, Hugh Hobbs, and W. Rankin, and Mj Smith gave an amusing recitation on " The Elocution Class.'' The club was much indebted to "The Idlers," and pther friends for a most successful and enjoyable cpncert.
