THE REFORM LEAGUE.

Press Association. WELLINGTON, May 7. The Dominion Executive of the New Zealand Political Reform League met to-day, the president (the Right Hon. W. F. Massey) in the chair. Other members present were: —Sir Walter Buchanan, M.P., Messrs D. H. Guthrie, M.P., W. H. D. Bell M.P., M. A. Clark (Auckland), Gilbert Carson (Wanganui), C. Ferguson (Wairau), John Macgregor (Dunedin), Mrs Haslam (Christchurch League, Mrs C. W. Earle (Wellington Women's League). Apologies for absence were received from Messrs R. Scott, M.P., H. D. Aeland (Christchureh), and E. W. Alison (Auckland). The president, in opening the proceedings, welcomed Mr Gilbert Carson, expressing appreciation of the fact that the executive would have the benefit of his experience and judgment. It was decided to arrange for the annual conference of branches to be held in Wellington on Thursday and Friday, July 16 and 17. I Mr E. H. Williams, of Hastings, wrote resigning his membership of the executive, and was accorded a vote of thanks for his past services. Reports were presented by the organisers. All indicated healthy proand sub-branches of the league having been opened ai Raetihi (Waimarino), Waipapakauri (Bay of Islands), Kumara(Westland), Motueka, Collingwood, and Takaka (in the Motueka electorate), and Paroa (Grey electorate). . • Candidates for the general election have been selected as follow: —• NORTH ISLAND. MINISTERIAL TOUR.

Press Association. CLINTON, May 7. The Hon. E. M. B. Fisher a'ddressed a large audience at Clinton to-night. In a vigorous trenchant speech he criticised the Opposition and indulged in scathing jibes at their alleged lack of policy and contradiction of eaeh other's speeches, on the lines of his address at Winton on (Monday night. He dealt with the alleged understanding between the Liberals and the Federation of Labour, the land and naval poHey of the Government and old age and other pensions, and advocated universal pensions. Replying 'to a question regarding the holding cf military camps in winter, he explained that that was due to Sir lan Hamilton's - visit. They would be held earlier in ftiture. Mr Fisher had a cordial and attentive hearing, with frequent and at the conclusion a vote of thanks and of confidence in the Government was passed and cheers were given for the Massey Party, v / __
