" DUNEDIN, May 6. Sailed —Warrimoo, for Auckland. Lyttel* ton passengers: Mesdames M'Donald, King, Misses M'Glashen and Alves. SHIPPING NOTES. The steamer Zealandic, from London, vi» Tort Chalmers, arrived in port this rptprning to complete discharge of her cargo. Yesterday morning the C. and D. line* Nereliana arrived at Wellington from London, via way ports. After discharging the Wellington portion of cargo, the Nereliana goes on the loading berth for England, Gisborne being her next port of call. The Union Company's s.s. Karamu left Greymouth at 9 a.m. to-day for Lyttel ton, via Wellington, with a cargo of timber.
The Maori, which at port this, morning, brought Sydney cargo cx Willochra, including transhipments ex s.s. Dumbea, Arawatta, Ventura, Magdeburg, Orvieto, Tango Maru, and Cooma. The chief Imports .are:— 40 cases sulphuric acid, 200 sacks fiouy, 200 packages tea, 10 bales rugs, 40 cases fempty bottles, *23 bales matting, 15 drums. VJiite spirit, 304 bags rice, 100 cases soap",; 176 pieces shafting, 20 bags cocoa beans., It is announced that* -ike steamer Perthshire is to take the July loading in New Zealand for Boston and New York. Tliis fixture was originally set down for the Durham.
Advice has been received of the arrival of ilie four-masted barquentinc Titariia at; Newcastle from Lyttelton list Saturday morning, after a three-weeks' voyage. The Titania loads at Newcastle for Fiji.
Cabled advice reports the departure.- from Liverpool on Saturday last of the staamer Delphic from New Zealand porte. She comes via Auckland and Wellington, and is doe at Lyttelton about the end of June. ; The New Zealand Shipping Company's Romuera, which left Wellington for Loudon yesterday afternoon, had on board the following saloon passengers:—Mr-E. .C. The M'Arthur Shipping and Agency Company, Ltd., managing agents in Australia for the Clan Line of steamers, have received advices from Messrs Cayzer, Irvine, and Co., Ltd., of Glasgow, that three more steamers are now being built for the line, and 'tliey will shortly be due for launching. They will be sister steamers, each with a gross tonnage of 5800 tons, net tonnage 3700 'tong, dead weight capacity 8600 tons, and' lthey will have an average speed of 13 knots when loaded. The new vessels will bear the names of the three small steamers which were recently disposed of by the Clan Line—namely. Clan Ogilvy, ' Clan Campbell, and Clan Ross. The Clan Line now consists of 59 steamers, with a gross tonnage of 268,882 tons. Bound from St. John to Lyttelton,;; via Australian and northern ports, the Newi land Shipping CojfCfrany' s chartered steamer Batsford was reported off the Capo of Stood Hope' last Saturday." She is .expected liere about June 25.
Captain A. Wallis, c£ the Tofua, arrived, in Auckland on Sunday by tbeManuka from Sydney. He is on holiday leave. Captain S. Stringer, of tlie Marine Department, has gone on holiday. The departure of the steamer Biiteshire for Avonmouth, via Las Palmas, from Wellington, has been postponed till next Tuesday.
One of those never-ending mysteries of the sea was reported by the Ruahine, which arrived from London this week (says an exchange). When crossing the Bay of Biscay a derelict was sighted in the shape of a full-rigged ship, with masts and yards standing. " There was absolutely no sign of life on board. The vessel's name was not discovered, and as a heavy sea was running the Ruahine continued her south-ern 'journey. The derelict's position was reported to Lloyd's by wireless, as well as to all vessels within range. .
Cabled .advice from London reports the arrival of the Orari there on May 4. She left Wellington on March 18. Leaving London on May 29, for New Zealand ports, the Shaw, Savill liner Arawa -will be the first of the company's fleet to omit the usual call at Plymouth. All vessels in the mail- service will in future go from London .direct to Teneriffe. NEW ZEALAND SHIPPING COMPANY. . The latest movements of the New Zealand Shipping Company's steamers are as follow: — The Suffolk, Homeward bound, sailed from Monte Video on Thursday. The Whakatane, outward bound to Port Chalmers, left St. Helena yesterday. The Hollington left Lyttelton to-day for Dunedin to complete the discharge of cargo from St.< John - (Canada). The Opawa is due at Auckland to-day in continuance of her loading.for London.. She next proceeds to Waitara and Wellington. The Kia Ora, from St. John (Canada), left Sydney yesterday for Auckland, and should reach Lyttelton about the 18tli irist. The Rualiine is due at Lyttelton on the 11th inst., and after comjjleting discharge proceeds to Timaru, Port -Chalmers, and Blufl!, returning to Lyttelton for Homeward loading about the 25th inst., tlience to Wellington for final dispatch ou June 4. The Tongariro is due at Hobart to-day, en route to Auckland. The Rimutaka leaves Sydney to-day for Auckland.
