LKESTON, May 4. Thomas Stirling)-- a fisherman at Lake Ellesmere, wsfs found dead in his motor-boat on Sunday morning. Deceased was recently in the hospital suffering from 'heart trouble. He leaves a widow. DIED. It is under-j I'stood that before leaving Melbourne j jthe girl had spent three weeks in ai j hospital, suffering from dyscntry, and 1 was in a very weak state when she j 'embarked. An inquest will be held toI morrow. I ACCIDENTAL SHOOTING. | WAITARA, May 4. j A youth named Ernest Dare Spencer, 'aged" 19, v/as found lying dead in a 'pool of blood this morning. He went lout to work a disc harrow on the farm, laud was carrying "a loaded gun with 'which he was to shoot birds to feed a j tame hawk. It is presumed that he got into trouble with the horse and that the gun went off. Deceased's head was much shattered. SHIP'S COOK DROWNED. GRE YMOUTH, May 4. About 10.20 o'clock on Saturday i night, William Tyrell, about o0 years i of" age, cook on the scow Echo, missed 'his footing going aboard the vessel, iwhich was moored at the wharf. His companion heard a splash and threw a 'line overboard,-but there was no sign of jthe missing man. Search was made the following morning, and the body was !found immediately below where the dc- ! ceased fell in. The man evidently had 'been stunned by the fall, as there was ja lacerated wound on his forehead. An inquest was opened to-day, and was adjourned to make further enquiries as |to deceased's sobriety at the time of the accident. Tyrell joined the vessel lat Wellington. . 1 DIED AT A MEETING. Shepherd, a member of jthe Education Board and chairman of the School Committee for many years, 'died suddenly at the school committee Imeeting to-night, just before 8 o'clock. |The deceased leaves a widow and Igrown-up family.
