■ It has been stated that there are a laro'e number of men out of employment at present, but the demand from Ross goldfields seems to have eased the position somewhat. Of the one hundred wanted, 20 were sent away from Christchurch this morning by the Labour Department, another and larger number having been sent from Wellington, Twenty men will also be sent to the Government road works at Ashley Gorge on Friday morning, provided ar-. rangements for their accommodation have.been completed.
