CHINESE GAOLED. Press Association. WELLINGTON, May 4. Prosecutions following upon a polic* raid on the Chinese quarter in Haining Street on April 19, were gone into before Mr D. G. A. Cooper, S.M., today, when seventeen Chinese appeared on remand, charged with having beer concerned in or found in a common gaming house. . Seven large cases, stated to contain pakapoo tickets, about a ton in weight, were brought inte Court as exhibits, and" a quantity of other alleged gambling paraphernalia littered the Court room. Ah Yep was charged with keeping a common gaming house, and Ah Gee with. assisting in the management thereof. ' Fifteen other Chinese appeared onlcharge that they were found in a common gaming house. Ah Yep was convicted and sent -to gaol for two months. The charge against Ah. Gee was dismissed and the hearing of those against the other accused was adjourned.
