LOCAL ELECTIONS.
I MR HOLLAND'S CAMPAIGN. GOOD WISHES. When the ordinary business of the City Council had concluded last evening, Cr Otley rose and said that he wished to convey to the Mayor his own and other councillors' appreciation of the very good feeling which had prevailed in the council during his Worship's term of office. The feeling could not have been more amicable in any lody in New Zealand. (the speaker) felt quite confident that. 011 Wednesday next the Mayor would again be returned. Cr Cooper added a similar tribute and expression of his good wishes. Cr Sorensen also hoped that the Mayor would again be returned. If the Mayor had one fault it was that he was too good-natured, and was too anxious to please everyone. He hoped to welcome Mr Holland back for a third term, though generally he was not in favour of a third term for Mayors. The Mayor thanked the councillors for their expression of good feeling, lie had tried to show no-, favouritism to anyone, but to do what he believed to be his duty. He sincerely trusted that Cr Taylor (who was chairman of the Electricity Committee, and a very valuable member of. the council) Cr Williams (who had shown great! energy and enthusiasm in connection with the city organ recitals) would bo again returned. This concluded the business, and the council rose at the record time of B.3ft p.m.-
