BURNHAM ESCAPEES.
TAKE POSSESSION OF A CAVE. On Sunday last three lads escaped from Burnham, and were able to enjoy such pleasures as they could gain from wrongful liberty until yesterday. Then Constable Hampton, of Sumner, caught them at Taylor's Mistake. One of the lads told the tale of their trip. They left the school with the attendants in pursuit, But the chase was more tiring than profitable for their guardians. That night- they slept in Hagley Park, leaving there for Sumner long before the dawn. The tramp was a big journey done by foot, and they were weary by the time they took possession of the home of a "cave dweller" at the Mistake. They lived upon his food and used his goods until the constable came, Then they spent a more comfortable night than had been theirs for several —in the Sumner lock-up. To-day they were returned to the school.
