DUNEDIN", April 8
The great event of the week was the opening of the Students' Building and the Oliver Wing —the two attractive and important additions to our university —by his Excellency the .Governor. All our representative people were present at the ceremony, and the company upon the stage comprised Mr John Roberts, C.M.G. (who presided), his Excellency and Lady Liverpool, the Primate (Bishop Nevill), and the Mayor, Mr Downie Stewart, Miss-' Stewart, Mrs John Roberts, Dr Gilray, Dr and Mrs Lindo Fergusson, Mrs James Allen, Professor Boys-Smith, the Hon. T, Fergus, and everybody who is anybody educationally. On Tuesday afternoon the Y.M.C.A. gave a little reception in honour of Miss Brentnall, 8.A., at which Miss Downie Stewart presided. The afternoon was much enjoyed by those present, and Miss Brentnall's remarks on her work in India were both interesting and amusing. Miss Dorothy Finch, who is to be married on the 21st of this month, is being entertained with unabated enthusiasm at numberless afternoons and bridge parties. The Misses Gilkison (Nelson) are visiting their brother, Mr Eobert Gilkison, North East "Valley. Mr and Mrs U. Shiels (St. Clair), and Mr and Mrs.Todd (Central Otago) left for the north to-day to join tho Niagara at Auckland. They intend travelling in America and Europe during the next twelve months. | Mr and Mrs R. C. Jones are holidaying in "Wellington. Mr T.. A. Hunter has left for the north to "join the Niagara en route to England. Miss Brentnell left to-day for Southland. She intends lecturing in Invercargill and Gore, and will return to Dunedin on Thursday. HONORIA.
