BOY SCOUTS.
MEETING OF COUNCIL.
At a meeting of the Dominion Council of the Boy Scout Organisation, attended: by Colonel Cossgrove, Dominion Commissioner (in the chair), Dr. Inglis, Colonel C.resswell, Captain Marciel, Mr H. S. J. Goodman, and Rev. W. Orbcll (secretary), the chairman reported that sixteen new troops had been formed within a radius of a few miles of Paeroa.
Permission was granted the Dunedin District-Executive to hold a South Island Boy Scout rally in Dunedin at Christmas this year. It was resolved that the new regulation providing that patrol levies be sent direct to the Dominion secretary be rescinded, and the former regulation be reverted to.
It was decided that a new province be constituted-to include all Canterbury north of the Waipara, together with Cheviot,.Kaikoura, and Amuri counties, and that Colonel Chaffey be appointed Commissioner. Colonel Chaffey wrote accepting the appointment.
The following other appointments were made:—Commissioner for Auckland East, Major Newton, with headquarters at Thames; Commissioner for Taranaki, Major Sandford; Commissioner for Wellington North, Mr JR. S. Abraham; Commissioner for Southland, Dr. Ritchie Crawford; District Commander for Auckland Central, Mr Thorpe; District Commander for New Plymouth, the Rev. 11. Fookes; District Commander for Christchureh, the Rev. Mr Horden.
