METHVEN SHOW.
MARRED BY RAIN. The Methven Show was held to-day, and was almost, completely spoiled by the weather. At 9 a.m. rain set in and continued without' intermission, making matters extremely unpleasant. Despite this the attendance was'-satisfactory. The entries in all classes totalled 1351. The principal feature of the show was the excellent display of fat sheep, aria the breed "classes were' also well filled. The principal exhibitors were: — English Leieesters and Shropshires: Mr A. Drummond. ■'""■"■ Shropshires: Messrs Cox and MH3ruinness* ' • "■ ■ ■ :■'.''■• Southdowns: Messrs P. Dowlihg and Miller Bros. '-'- The display of draught horses was admirable, andthey ; were drawn chiefly from the surrounding, district. '■ -^ Light horses were also much above the average. The cattle classes filled and the' exhibits were quite-jof an equal standi ard with "those of any of the Canterbury autumn shows. ; ~,, Pigs*'were exceptionally good for country show, and the various] competitions were interesting, although naturally suffering' awing;, inclement j weather. -•;!■;:.;..-.; . ~ j Judging is proceeding this afternoon..
