A joint Labour Conference. determined to send a deputation to the Premier and- the Colonial Secretary to urge the repeal of the banishment of the deported Labourites. The conference appointed Mr ,J. Ramsay Macdonald and Mr Seddon to personally memorialise General Botha. * A resolution was carried to establish -■ f * a defence fund for the deported men. A delegate announced that writs had been issued against the owners of the steamer Umgeni.
