A SEVERE GALE. ■ * Press Association. HOKITIKA, April 8. An inspection of the sea front to-day discloses a very serious position as the result of last night's gale and the heavy sea. From 50 to 100 feet of bank have been carried away, together with buildings and fences, and the damage amounts to a considerable sum. Other damage by the gale includes the unroofing of a portion of the Racing Club's main grandstand, while the fences and trees suffered to a great extent.
