Distinguishing marks on wool packs were;; the subject of a letter from the Christchurch Chamber of Commerce read at the meeting of the Wellington Chamber on Monday (says the '' Post''). '' The Christchurch" importers of wool packs,'' said the letter, "have decided it would be a great advantage if the various sizes were marked by distinguishing stripes—s4iu by a red stripe; 4Sin, two }iii red stripes; 46in, iin blue stripe; 42in, two iiu blue stripes. If this is adopted much , trouble and inconvenience in measuring sacks to ascertain the tare will jbe obviated. This chamber has been asked by the Christchurch Woolbrokers' Association to take steps to have the method adopted by all importers and Avoolbrokers in the Dominion, and I am therefore directed to ask if you will bring the matter under the notice of importers in your district so as to obtain their concurrence. By these means uniformity will be attained, and there be greater probability of the manufacturers agreeing to the request." The matter is held in abeyance pending a reply from the Wellington Woolbrokers' Association.
