MEETING OF COMMITTEE. The Committee of the Canterbury A. and P. Association met this afternoon, the president (Mr W. F. Parkinson) being ,in the chair. It was decided to make the usual annual donation of £2O to the Christchurch Technical College. Accounts amounting to £169 11/11 were passed for payment. The president was appointed to represent the association at the Conference of the Dominion Council of Agriculture, to be held at Wellington at the end of July. The president, vice-president, and Messrs J. Grigg, C. 11. Ensor, and W. T. Johnson were appointed to represent the association on the Canterbury Committee with regard to the Dominion's representation at the forthcoming San Francisco Exposition.
MOTION OF CONDOLENCE. THE LATE MR D. D. MACFARLANE At this afternoon's meeting of the committee of the Canterbury A. and P. Association, the following motion was carried: — "That the committee, on behalf of the Canterbury Agricultural and Pastoral Association, wishes to convey to the widow and family of the late Mr Duncan 'Maefarlane its deepest sympathy and condolence in the great loss they have sustained by his death; as also its profound sense of the irreparable loss to the association with which he was ro long and intimately connected. ; ' The resolution was proposed by the chairman, Mr W. F. Pattinson, who said that the late Mr Maefarlane had been one of the most useful members of the committee, of which he had bceu a member since 1900. For two years he had been president of the association. Sir George Clifford, who seconded the motion, paid a high tribute of respect to the late Mr Maefarlane. He had been a true friend of the farming community, and his every action had borne the mark of real common-sense and deep interest in the welfare of all those 011 the land. The motion was carried in silence.
