It is estimated that £30,000 will be needed to transport and quarter the team of 100 or more athletes who will represent the United States at the Olympic Games, to be held in Berlin in 191 G. Sentence of five months in the second division was at the Staffordshire Assizes passed on Pascoe Bioletti, who pleaded guilty to attempting to bribe Jesse Pennington, captain of the West Bromwich Albion Football Club, to bring about the defeat of the club or a draw in a match with Everton. Mr Justice Lush said there were too many examples of the baneful effects of gambling upon sport. The prisoner's offence was disgraceful.
