(From Our Special Correspondents.) RANGIORA. NORTH CANTERBURY FOOTBALL CLUB. The North Canterbury Football Club held a well attended meeting last evening, Mr H. C. Wilson in the chair. The "•canvass during the week resulted in ten new members. It was decided to CTjtor the teams for the Canterbury j Rugby Union's competitions, and to open the season on Saturday. BANKS PENINSULA. The monthly sitting of the S.M. Court was held yesterday, Mr T. A. B. Bailey, S.M., presiding. H. Le Lievre was ordered to. pay 7/6 per week and medical expenses in support of his illegitimate child and find security in £IOO to comply with the order. C. W. Leete was charged under the borougb by-laws with erecting a building without first submitting plans and specifications ~to the: Council. He was' fin fed 10/- and costs. H. Robertson was charged the Akaroa County Council with failing tt> sound the horn of his motor-cycle-■when rounding He was convicted and ordered, to pay costs, 25/-. The final for the ladies' croquet tournament for Mrs Newton's bowl was won by Mrs Thomas^ The annual meeting of the Akaroa Football Club was held on Wednesday evening, Mr C. Hall presiding. ■ The balance-sheet showed a credit balance of £9 18/8. The following officers for the current year were elected: —President, Hon. R. Heaton Rhodes; vicepresidents, Messrs G. Armstrong, W. H. Parkin, E. E. Telceon, W. H. Henning, J. D. Bruce, L. I. Vangioni, P. Wederell, H. W. Piper and Dr Cantrell; club captain, Mr C. Hall; deputy club eaptain, Mr F. S. Mitchell; hon. secretary and/treasurer, Mr R. Bruce; assistant secretary, Mr E. J. Beattie; committee, Messrs W. Jacobson, G. O. T, Armstrong, V. Armstrong, H. Moss, H. : Crawsliaw; delegates to Peninsula Rugby Union, Messrs A. Williams and R. Bruce; selectors,. Messrs Mitchell, Jacobson, anil' field captain; hon. audi-, tor, Mr A. Gray. It was decided to open the seasonoosn s Saturday, April 4. WASAU. The Waiau School Committee held its monthly meeting on March 30. The master's report stated that the average attendance' for March was 59, out of & roll number of 7JL, the whooping cough epidemic not seriously affecting the attendance. The sefcool children metj-witl) some success at Waiau Show, and have several entries for the Hawarden Show. The report of the committee appointed to inspect the scliodl and grounds was read and adopted, and the chairman was empowered to carry out tae work required. Accounts amounting to £1 1/2 were passed for payment. It was resolved that Good Friday and Easter Monday be school holidays. OXFORD. On Show night, April 1, the Oxford Dramatic Club, under Mr R. H. Parish's management, gave one of their delightful entertainments to a packed house. The play selected, "The Honeymoon," is full of humorous acting and dialogue, and. every performer seemed specially adapted for their parts. =Miss Grace, as Juliana, acted in a finished style, both as the haughty duchess and as the loving wife. t Miss Heavy side was charming as Volante, and Miss Dora, as the page, was stiff, but she was better as Lamora. Mr Leech, as Duke of Aranza, acted well, and Mr Piner, as Rolando, needs special me.ntiom his, scene with Volante being excellent. Mr Barnes, as Jaques, was a great success, and Mr Parish, as Signer Balthazar, had a part which suited him. Mr Jones, as Count Montalban, Sicted in his usual polished manner. Mr Cook, as Ropez, had a small i>artj and suited it admirably. The country dance was charming, and the costumes most attractive —a pleasing feature of the entertainment. amber Ley. On Tuesday evening a very enjoyable dance was given by the Druids Lodge. , About 40 couples indulged in dancing until the early hours of the morning. Music was provided by Mrs Trail and Mr L. Wornall. The usual monthly meeting of the Amberley Town Board was held in the board office on Thursday evening; present were Messrs E. Chamberlain (chairman), W. A. Nicholls, G. R.'llolton, D. Brown, J. M. South, and H. W. Mockett. It v/as decided to inform the Post-master-General that the Town Board wore prepared to maintain the town clock. Accounts amounting to £l4 17/5 were passed for payment. It was decided that all outstanding ratepayers be written to and given 14 days' notice. The town clerk v/as instructed to instruct the dog ranger to start collecting the dog registration fees.. The clerk's report was then read, and the actual figures for the past year were: —Expenditure £484 10/10, receipts £399 l.'!/l 1, and, added to the balance of the previous year, makes a total of £507 18/5, leaving a credit balance of i' 23 1/7. The total amount expended on the roads was £357 15/6, as against £75 .17/- last year, the amount for shingling alone being £270 14/ " '
