STRANGLING AN INFANT.

VERDICT OF WILFUL MURDER. Press Association. AUCKLAND, April 3. Au inquest on the body of a new-born infant whicli was found in a dressbasket floating in the harbour on March 30, with a cord tied tightly round the child's neck, was held to-day. The police had no new evidence. Medical evidence showed that a tape was drawn tightly round the infant's neck, leaving a deep groove in the flesh, and death was undoubtedly due to strangulation. The coroner returned a verdict of "Wilful murder, by some person or persons unknown."
