At the last meeting of the District Council of the Social Democratic Party it was agreed to write to the Hon. Mr Massey strongly protesting against "the proposed sale of the Rotorua Government property to private owners. Owing to grave complaints made as to the serious overcrowding of the public primary schools and also that school committees are seriously hampered for want of funds, the council have agreed to make careful enquiries and report at a later meeting. The secretary was instructed to reply to Mr Pearson on the question of assaults on women and young female children:—"That this District Council does not believe in capital punishment, as advocated by him, under the laws of Moses, but that it views with alarm the increase of such cases, and is heartily in sympathy with the fundamental treatment of the problem.''
