A man named Albert Bailey, a\ carrier, with his wife and child, aged tyro years and a half, were crossing the line near the North Bridgewater Station, when a train crashed into their vehicle.

Bailey was decapitated and his terribly mangled . ,

His wife was thrown among the wreckage,"but with a mother's devotion : clung to her child..

When picked up she said: "I shielded it." ' ' .. \

The wife had several ribs broken, but the child escaped unhurt.

Tlie horses were cut to pieces, ami the vehicle was carried 150 yards.'
