CANTERBURY COLLEGE.

ORDINARY MEETING OF BOARD OF GOVERNORS.

A meeting of the Canterbury College Board of Governors was held this afternoon. There were present:—Messrs JY C. Adams (in the' chair), Dean Hayes, the Hon. G. J. Smith, Dr Lester, T. H. Davey, M.P., L. B. Wood, T. G. Weston, C. II." A. Opie, T. W.Adams, S. H. Seager, W. H. Montgomery, H. D, Acland, G. Bennie, and T. Brock. Mr Adams moved ' that a special committee should be appointed to consider suitable amendments to the University Act. He suggested Messrs Acjland, Weston, Davey, : Ojne, and the chairman. ; Iri answer to a question, the chairman said that the copies of last ses- 1 sion's Bill had been-sent on March S by the Secretary of Education. Mr Davey moved that the chairman should be authorised to write to tha Secretary of Education to ask what was intended to be done. . This was seconded by Mr Seager,, and carried. If'it was heard that it was proposed to proceed with the Bill, it was decided that the committee proposed by ; the chairman should be. authorised to' go into the matter. ' ; - The present representatives of the board upon the;- High School Messrs Black, Le Lievrey and Jennings/ were reappointed. ' (Proceeding.) .
