RUGBY FOOTBALL.
CANTERBURY COLLEGE CLUB.
ANNUAL REPORT. The report and balance-sheet to be Submitted to the annual meeting of the Canterbury College Eugby Football Club to-night states that the past season has been in many respects the most successful since 1901. There has been a distinct and pleasing improvement in the position of the teams in the various competitions, and a large increase in ■" * active membership. It is noted that season, for the first time, every JJugby student who was attending lectures played for the 'Varsity Club. The first fifteen sent five representatives with the N.Z. University fifteen to Sydney, and was represented in the Provincial fifteen by W. W. Simmers. The second fifteen had a very strenuous season, and the third fifteen, after many hard matches, ran through as, runners-up in the President's Cup Competition. A feature of 'Varsity Eugby is the -enthusiastic support accorded to the teams by the lady students. Every Saturday intense interest is taken in the welfare of the club by a bevy of ardent supporters. Two old members of the club, T. D. Smith and W. F. Tracy, have left to take up positions abroad, and the report concludes with a recognition of the work of these two students, who have been instrumental in piloting the «hib through many troublous times to Its present satisfactory position.
