It is reported that preparations are being made for the opening up of a large new colliery at Cessnock. The name of the party financing the scheme has not been divulged, but he is believed to be a wealthy speculator who negotiated for the purchase of the same land five years ago. It will be the largest colliery in the Southern Hemisphere.
