The" inquest into the circumstances of the death of James Londrigan was continued before Mr H. W. Bishop, district coroner, at 7.30 last evening. Mr Hunt watched proceedings on' behalf of the relatives of the deceased.
John Londrigan, of Little Eiver, said that he was a brother of deceased, who was a farmer at Little Eiver. On Monday morning he saw his brother lying on the road at Weston. Valley, Little Eiver, having evidently fallen from his horse. Deceased did not speak when he was picked up. In witness's opinion the affair was purely accidental.
Edward James Goblin, farmer, of Little Eiver, stated that about 9.15 a.m. he saw deceased riding along the road very, steadily in Weston Valley. Deceased gave a tug at the \ rein and the horse and rider fell over. The rider fell very heavily on the roadway. Deceased was riding about a chain ahead of witness; he then went back to put his horse away, after which he returned to where deceased was lying, him unconscious. Witness went for a doctor, and deceased was taken to the Christchurch Hospital by the midday train. Deceased was accustomed to riding, and always rode slowly.
