CHRIST'S COLLEGE CADETS.

V UNDER CANVAS. ? The experiment which commenced yesterday in connection with the Christ's College Cadet Corps, which has been handed over to the defence authorities for a week of special training, is proving a success.

On arriving at the main entrance to the college grounds, one is accosted by * a sturdy cadet, who must first be satisfied as to the nature of the business to be transacted by the visitor. He wears on his right wrist a white badge bearing the letters M.P., which in this instance stand not for Member of Parliament, but for Military Police. The tents are pitched on the football ground. They are arranged in three lines across the field, a line for each of the three companies, with the officers' quarters and mess tent behind them. Behind the officers' tents again are the cook's quarters. In this department, judging by the general approval of the existing arrangements * expressed in '. various quarters, there is nothing to be desired. », .

Last evening Major Pinwill delivered an interesting lecture on '' Camp Discipline." The programme carried out today' has been as follows:—Reveille sounded at 6.30 a.m., and from 7.15 to 7.45, time was given up to physical drill and semaphore signalling. A parade was held from 9 a.m. to 12.45 p.m., an hour was then allowed for dinner and the afternoon parade commenced at 2 p.m. After tea, at 7.15 p.m., another lecture will be delivered: First Post will be sounded at 8.30, and Lights Out at 9 p.m. On Sunday visitors will have an opportunity to see the camp. A Church parade is to be held at 3 p.m., and after this officers and cadets will be "At Home'' to friends. Invitations, are not being issued, but all visitors will be heartjly welcomed and admitted at tile main gate on presentation of a visiting card. By permission of Major Murphy and the officers of the Ist (Canterbury) Regiment, the band of the Regiment will play at the service and later during the "At Homo." The week in camp is. expected to improve greatly the efficiency of the cadets, who ought to appear to advantage when inspected by General Sir lan Hamilton in a few weeks' time.>
