HAWKE'S BAY B v. HAWARDEN.
The match between Hawke's Bay B and Hawarden took place at the conclusion of the matches reported yesterday. The teams were: —
Hawke'a Bay B.—W. G. Stead, O. Nelson, J. Lyons, and E. Nairn. Hawarden.—F. Davison, E. Davison, G. L. Rutherford, and C. O. T. Rutherford.
From*the jump Hawke's Bay got the lead, Nelson scoring. Immediately after change of sides Nairn added another goal. Then the Davison brothers got through Hawke's Bay's attack, and E. Davison scored. But Stead shortly afterwards added another to Hawke's Bay's total, and the first spell ended: — Hawke's Bay '. 3 HawaTden 1
In the second spell there was nothing much doing, but in the third Hawke's Bay showed its good combination in a .strong attack in Hawarden's ground, and several shots came very close to making goals, but no further scores were added. The fourth spell resulted similarly, but attack and defence were more equally divided, the Davison brothers being most prominent. In the fifth spell, after a strong rush led by Nairn, the game was also quiet, and nothing was added to the totals. In the sixth spell Nelson secured a fine goal, Hawke's Bay's good combination bringing it along for him, and Lyons soon registered another. Hawke's Bay 5 Hawarden 1
Then Hawarden got some of its own, and F. Davison shot a goal, the spell ending: — Hawke's Bay .. .... 5 Hawarden .. 2
The final got going after a series of ine-outs, and Nelson soon added another goal. r

Hawarden narrowly missed scoring just on the close of time, but it was a' miss, and the game ended with Hawke 's., Bay three to the good. HANDICAP CUP. The Handicap Cup was played for by Eangiora B (30) and Pareora (10). The teams were: — Eangiora B: J. Chapman, D. Chapman, E. Fear, and S. H. Townend. Pareora: A. Elworthy, P. Elworthy, H. Elworthy, and L Orbell. , The first spell -was opened by Pareora attacking. Townend showed to advantage all through, and he and Denrtfe Chapman made some good saves. P. Elworthy secured a goal from a good shot towards the end of the spell, and immediately after change of ends A. Elworthy got another goal fom a; knock-off from Townend's pony., Pareora 2, Eangiora 0. In the second spell Orbell did good work, but just centred to miss on two occasions, but at last Orbell secured another score.for Pareora. 3 —o. The third spell resulted in goals being secured by P. Elworthy and Orbell. Pareora 5, Eangiora 0.
Pareora followed up vigorously, and in a Very short time A. Elworthy added another goal, and then H. Elworthy scored. A lucky hit through the posts off Townend's pony added another. Then from mid-field H. Elworthy made a good run and brought home the ball, and shortly after made another. The spell ended—Pareora 9, Eangiora 0 There was not much doing in the fourth spell, but Townend continued making some good saves, and H. El-
worthy added another to the score. 10 —0. H. Elworthy soon gained another point, and was followed by Orbell, then he gained another. Towards the end P# Elworthy and A. S. Elworthy each added to the score, the spell concluding: Pareor.a 16, Rangiora 0. In the sixth spell Pareora continued to outclass their opponents, and Orbell, A. S. Elworthy, and H. Elworthy each added points, making the score 19—0. In the final, H. Elworthy brought along the ball and manoeuvred it through the posts. 20 —0. Rangiora then got going, and'for the first time carried the ball across their opponents' line, D. Chapman leading up to J.*Chapman, but no score resulted. Just before the call of time Pareora carried the ball up to Rangiora's posts, and with a splendid shot A S. Elworthy made the winning goal. Counting in the handicaps (Pareora 10, Rangiora 30), the match resulted:— PAREORA 31 RANGIORA .. .. .. 30
Though th.e junior team was outclassed throughout, it put up a plucky defence, and Townend deserves all credit for the numerous clever saves made by him.
SAVILLE CUP. The teams were composed as follows: — Hawke's Bay B: W. G. Stead, O. Nelson, J. Lyons, and E. Nairn. Poverty Bay: P. Sherratt, T Sherratt, R. Sherratt, and J. Murphy. The match between Poverty Bay and Hawke's Bay B for the Saville Cup was, as expected, a clinking game. Hawke's Ba/ by carrying the game into their opponents' territory, but from a line-out Poverty Bay soon carried the ball down field, and T. Sherratt registered its first goal within a minute of the start. From another piece of fine play at the goal Nelson recured a point for Hawke's Bay. The Hawke's Bay team showed magnificent combination and individual brilliance, and the way the ball was carried along the field was remarkable, goals being missed by only a fraction of space on three occasions. The spell ended one each.
The second spell was equal in attack and defence, but Poverty Bay soon secured another point, shot cleverly in
goal by B. Sherratt. Then J. Murphy showed brilliant play in carrying the ball from the Hawke's Bay goal to the other end of the field, but a goal was missed, and the second spell ended— Poverty Bay 2 Hawke 's Bay 1 The third spell opened with a goal for Poverty Bay, registered by R. Sherratt, from a long shot. A charge by Hawke's Bay was cleverly frustrated by Murphy. Hawke's Bay continued to make the attack, and several line-outs followed, Murphy showing his skill in saving. Towards the end of the spell Nelson made a fine charge, and with dextrous long shots brought the ball up to the goal, but it was stopped The spell ended — Poverty Bay 3 Hawke's Bay 1 Play was hardly as accurate in the fourth spell as in the previous spells, but very early in the play P. Sherratt scored another goal for Poverty Bay from good passing. Play was never allowed to centre in midfield for long, and the spell was spectacular in its rushes, ending— Poverty Bay . 4 Hawke's Bay .... .. 1 Final. The game ended: — Poverty Bay 6 Hawke's Bay 3 The following handicap games are the probable order of play for to-morrow: — Hawke's Bay A (receive 1) v. Tipapa (receive 30), 9 a.m. Eangiora A (receive 22) v. Hawarden (receive 10), 11 a.m. Poverty Bay,(scr) v. Hawke's Bay C (receive 20), 2 p.m. Hawke's Bay B (receive 7) v. Christchurch (receive 18), 3.30 p.m.
