PREMIER ON THE COAST.
WELL RECEIVED. Press Association. WESTPORT, March 17. " The Prime Minister arrived from Nelson this evening, having opened thie Murehison Show en rout?. He waft welcomed by a large gathering of- the public, and was the guest of the citizens at a complimentary dinner. 1 1 . At the conclusion of the dinner some speeches were made, and the DeputyMayor, who presided,, presented Miss Mass'ey, whose birthday it happened to be, with a very handsome gold bracelet. Later on, Mr Massey delivered an address at the Irish national concert, and then gave a political addreßS in the-other theatre before a very large audience. Mr Massey was subjected to a good deal of from the v extreme Socialistic section, but the meeting passed off, on the whole, very good humoredly. It concluded with the carrying of a vote of thanks and confidence, which was opposed by the Red Fed. section of the audience. A prominent Liberal attempted. to speak, but the meeting declined to giv« him a hearing. ~
