THE GENERAL ELECTION.
POSITION IN SELWYN. Mr Joseph Hamlet, motor-car salesman, who is a candidate for Selwyn at the coming election, has issued the following:- — "Although; ..rumours have been circulated locally by irresponsibles to the contrary, I will contest the Selwyn electorate on behalf, of the Reform Party at the next election, and since the value of victory is generally measured by the fierceness of the Uissle, I will not complain of my opponent's energy. Even though it be a fight that will warm the heart cockles of an embalmed warrior in the catacombs, the better I will be pleased. "Having been born and raised in that noble university called 'Hard Knocks,' I have a thorough grasp and meaning of the word 'Consistency' — which says much. Therefore I do not claim any relationship to the Gelatined-Spined-Shrimp type of manhood. "■When the gong sounds I will be there with a smile; we shall then see what we shall see! "JOSEPH HAMLET."
