LONDON, March .15.* Suffragettes, expecting the Judges of the Assize to attend Birmingham Cathedral to-day, secreted themselves after evensong on Saturday, and during . the night painted over tij,e side galleries, pillars, floors, and pew fronts, "Votes for women. Stop forcible feeding." "* ■ > • . ' , The organ front was smashed, the pulpit, disfigured, and "Votes for ■women" painted across the centre of the magnificent Burne-Jones window. The vestry door was inscribed "The clergy must rise on our behalf." FURTHER OUTRAGE* (Received March 17, 10.25 a.m.) LONDON, March 16. A suffragette horsewhipped Dr Devon, a Scottish Prison Commissioner while he ■was entering the Glasgow prison. The Buffragette was knocked down but not arrested. Suffragettes fired Midland railway carriages at Kings Norton. Six were destroyed, and three were badly damaged. There has been a large increase of church service interruptions by suffragettes' prayers.
