A Wiltshire farmer, Mr T. H. Baker, who died recently at the age of 80, claimed to have a record of the local weather changes, with their accompanying alterations in prices and prospects, for more than 2600 years! He had traced these changes (says the British "Agricultural Gazette'') by reference, to ancient documents, from as far back as the year 720 B.C. Such a record should be invaluable, not only as containing the material for an enquiry into the development or the change of the British climate during that great stretch, but also, now and again, to give the line of what might be expected in the way of weather conditions by references to past occurrences of the same kind. It is to be hoped someone will be found to carry Mr Baker's record still further forward.
