MEETING OF FIRE BOARD.
A meeting of the Fire Board was held yesterday afternoon, when there were present: Messrs \A.L. Parsons (chairman), H. R. Rusbridge, A. Williams, H. Hall, and W. B. M'Kenzie. The following recommendations of the board in committee were adopted: That, copies of Gazette notices regarding insurance returns having been received from the) Department of Internal Affairs, the board should advertise early in May, in accordance with such notice, drawing the attention to the Act of all persons negotiating insurances on of companies outside New Zealand. That the annual subsidy of £l2 12/- be paid to the Brigade Social Club. That Whitcombe and Tombs, Ltd., be permitted to erect a board at the fire station for a private fire alarm, subjeet to the approval of the superintendent. That the manager of the Opera House be ? requested to notify the brigade at once in the event of an outbreak of fire in the future. That firemen on duty at theatres be insured. '■■';'■ \ -.': i The statement "of receipts and expenditure showed a credit balance of £202 0/2. It was decided to pay the City Council's account of £315 18/10 for electrical installation prior 1 to March 31. Accounts amounting "sto £443 1/4 were passed for payment. A vote of thanks to the Mayor for arranging the tram tour of the city for the visiting delegates to the 'Fire Brigades' Conference concluded the meeting.
