TOWN HALL SITE.
UNITED BUEGESSES' ASSOCIATION. At the meeting of the United Burgesses' Association held last night Mr G. E. Franklin presided over a small attendance. A photograph of the drawing of the front elevation of a town hall for Christehurch, made in 1876 by Mr T. B. Ja«otsen, architect, was handed round for inspection. It was proposed then to erect the building on the site in Victoria Square which has been selected nov by the City Council. The Association's sub-committee reported having inspected three sites. It recommended a site on the northern side of the river, bounded by Kilmore, Colombo, and Victoria streets, facing the river. •. Mr J. Butterfield declared that a site on Moorhouse Avenue should be considered also. ' A motion that the City Council should. submit to the vote of the ratepayers the two best sites available, as the present site did not meet the present or future wants of the city, was discussed at great length, but carried without dissent. ;'
