INCREASED TRAM FARES.

PROTEST IN SYDNEY. fy Gable. — Press Association.—Copyright. SYDNEY, March 12. The Hon. H. C. Hoyle, Assistant Treasurer, turned a deaf ear to the Labour Council's deputation, which protested against the increase of tram fares. » Mr Hoyle said a heavy loss was incurred in the working of the tramways, and they must be made to pay. He was convinced that the loss could be covered if fares were properly collected. He appealed to the Trades Council to bring its influence to bear On tramway officials to do this. So soon as the leeway was made up, fares would be reduced. '
