Herron Blakeslee, an* art dealer, shot himself in the temple,, on hearing that a painting he had , sold for £l2O had. proved to be a genuine Rembrandt, worth £30.000. He was in trouble with his creditors, having, been unable to sell pictures which he" had purchased in Europe for £300,000. He placed the pictures round a room, and was gazing at Rubens's "Adoration of the Magi" when he committed suicide.
