INTENSE INTEREST.

LORDS AND THE ARMY BILL.

THE NATION READY.

Bu Cable. — Pre— Association. — Copyright. • / LONDON, March 9.

The '' Daily News'' describes ss purely gratuitous the assumption that the attack on the Army Bill, will enr able the House of Lord's to force a dissolution. The nation has, fought and defeated the Peers before, and is ready to finish them when the call comes. The rejection of to-day's offer would mean terminating the Government's long suffering. When all hope of agreement is dead, it will become a duty to see that trade in anarchy is not allowed to be an adjunct to electioneering. I

The "Daily Chronicle" says that some peers are planning to insert in the Army Annual Bill an amendment prohibiting the use of the Army against Ulster. The Government would reject such an amendment, whereupon, in the event of the House of Lords insisting, the Bill would be lost and the Army cease to exist. It is hardly credible that the House of Lords will go to this length, but the Government is .taking propel steps to prepare for such a happening, and when the occasion arises will act with swiftness and decision.
