Arthur Richards, a yqijng man, pleaded guilty in the Ma^i^rate 's Court on ! , two charges of ' 6tfealing ;£L 7/5, the. property of -the Labour , department, and 11/-, the property of' the Government. Mr Macassey, for..the* Labour Department, stated that. .the total amount of thfe moneys received,, by the defendant arid unaccounted for ; ; from September 13, 1913, to .January 26, 1914, was £92 9/6, but full restitution had since been made. Accused had been, in tfie Labour Department for three years, and had hitherto borne a good character. The Department' did not press for severe sentence. On the first charge accused. was fined £5 or 21 days' imprisonment, and on the second hie was convicted ; and ordered to appear for sentence w'hen called upon. " r
