AMBULANCE DAY.
OVER £3OO COLLECTED. LAST YEAR'S FIGURES EXCEEDED. The total sum collected in the streets of the sity and suburbs on Saturday on behalf of the St. John Ambudance Brigade exceeded £330, an increase of over £3O on last year's fiugres. So'-far as returns were available to-day the amount collected was £335 11/6. The collectors numbered 150, and a total of 11,000 coins was taken. Mrs A. E. Rhodes and the committee wish to record their thanks to the pub-, lie for their generous response to their appeal, and to all those who helped in the collection; to Mrs J. Martin, Misses D. Holmes and M. Bain, Messrs Elsdale, Bowen (Dunedin), H. Livingstone, H. S. Eichards, T. Pratt, Wallis, L. Davis, J. H. Rhodes, and Captain Farthing, who helped with the boxes and in the receiving office; to Mrs C. J. Treleaven and Misses Cresswell and B. M. Turner, who helped in the enquiries and badges office; to Messrs Tahu Rhodes, R. M'Donald, Dexter and Crozier, and W. Scott, for their assistance with motorcars; to Mesdames F. Pratt, Lee, Cayley, and Robinson, and Misses Robinson, Pratt, Tender, and Macbeth, who looked after the tea and luncheon room; also to the Christchurch Meat Company, the Canterbury. Frozen Meat Company, F. A. Cook, T„ A. Kincaid, Ballin Bros., Tai Tapu Dairy Co. K Canterbury Dairy Company, W. Robertson, W. Tuck, Aulsebrook and Co., W. Thompson, F. Matthews, W. and E. Broadway, Gill, Boot, and the Cadena Co., for free supplies for the tea and luncheon room. •
