Car left PICTON on Monday afternoon at 1 o ? dlock, and ran right through to DtJNEDIN, a total of 496 miles v in the record time of 17 hrs. 25 mins. Records were put up as foUow PICTON to CHfiISTCHURCH, 250 miles in 8 hours 45 mi&tffcea. CHRISTCHtTRCK to TIMARTJ, in 3 hours 15 minutes. CHRISTCHURCH to DtJNEDIN; miles (in darkness) inß hours 40 min. TOTALS:—PICTON to DTJNEDIN, miles in 17 hours 25 minutes. The average speed, including crossing of rivers, and also including ■■ 9 hours* driving in the dark, works out at over, 28 MILES PER HOUR, which is a phenomenal performance.
