HALSWELL COUNTY COUNCIL.

The monthly meeting of the Halswell County Council was held on Tuesday last, when there were present: —Crs Eaglecombe (in the chair), Morten, W. Gilmour, Humphreys, and Thomas. A deputation from the Spreydon Borough Council waited upon the council with reference to the erection of a boundary bridge over the River Heathcote at Rose Street. It was resolved that this council agree to pay half cost of the proposed bridge with the exception of asphalt, which they consider unnecessary, each council making its own approaches, and that tenders be called fpr the work and submitted to this council for approval. With regard to correspondence from the Christchurch City Council as to electric lighting, etc., it was resolved that the council should be informed that "this council is of opinion that if the Government can supply current cheaper than the City Council, this council will support the Government.'' Accounts for £194 7/8 were passed for payment.
