MORE WOMEN INSPECTORS FOR SIDNEY.
In reply to a deputation representing the late Labour Conference held in Syd- | ney, the Minister of Labour and Industry has promised to appoint two additional women inspectors for factories. At the present time there are only three women inspectors, and in 1912 there were 3989 registered factories, employing 26,108 women and girls. He also expressed himself sympathetically -towards a request for adequate medical inspection of factories. The advent of the woman inspector has done much to better the conditions of the women and girls working in factories, and it is very necessary that a sufficient number are appointed to ensure the work being done thoroughly. The Minister evidently intends, to put his promise into actuality very soon, as he informed the council that he "was not one to allow grass to grow under his : feet."
