DIVORCE TANGLE.
Press Association. WELLINGTON, February 25. At the Magistrate's Court to-day, Mf T. M. Wilford made an unusual applica- . tion. His client, Wedderspoon, was * divorced last year, and had agreed to * pay 15s per week towards Ihe maintenance of two children. Mr Dunn, who appeared for the first wife, said he had ■ agreed to pay £1 per week. Mr Wilford replied that it afterwards had. been varied to 15/- per week, owing to the inability of his client to pay the amount. He now-proposed to visit England, and Mr Dunn had threatened him with proceedings if he attempted leave the Dominioh. His client thought the only way was to tak'e out a summons against himself that he should enter into some kind of security ia order that the machinery of the Court should not be set in motion to prevent his leaving. Mr JRiddell, S.M., ordered that £IOO be deposited with the Clerk of tho Court, or that a,bond in the sum of £IOO or two sureties of £SO each. Mr Dunn then applied for a varia- . tion of the maintenance order of 15/per week to £l, as originally granted. . ' After hearing the evidence of tho first wife, who stated she had divorced,,^ 1 Mr Rkldell stated that owing to the urisatisfactofy nature of . the evidence there was hot sufficient to warrant the Court in making any variation of tlie order. • -
